Breaking 150These guidelines appeared in Rolemaster Companion I and can help to get combat (a sometimes tedious process in RM) over a bit more quickly if the rolls go your way. To work out the number of hits awarded count the number of times the hits awarded for rolling 150 occurs ont he weapon attack table. this is called the Hit Interval. The additional hits awarded are the amount you rolled over 150 divided by the hit interval, rounded down. To work out the criticals awarded consult the following table:
Example: Dralon the Dwarven Warrior is fighting an Uruk Hai. He attacks with his +10 Warhammer and rolls 98. RM combat rolls are openended so he rolls again and gets a 90 for a total of 188. His OB is +70, but the Uruk has a DB of +45, so the total is 188 +10 +70 -45 = 223, or 73 over the 150 max. The Uruk is wearing Rigid Leather armour for AT11 so we consult the Arms Law attack table and find that the 150 damage is 20 hits and a E crush crit. The 20 hits result occurs 5 times so the additional damage is 73 / 5 = 14 hits. Consulting the table above we see that instead of an E he has scored an E and a B secondary critical. The warhammer attack table alternates between krush and puncture crits so we'll award one of each. this means Dralon's final attack result is 34 hits an E crush crtiical and a B puncture critical. It he rolls well for the critical's the Uruk is probably a goner.
